Joshua Jones was born in Madisonville, Kentucky in 1984. As the son of a hard-working single mother, Josh credits his work ethic to his mother’s honest, strong-willed, and compassionate nature. Josh moved to New Mexico in 2009 and is a proud resident of Rio Rancho, Sandoval County, and is honored to have been appointed as the County Commissioner for District 5.
After serving in the Air Force for over a decade, Josh received his B.A with a concentration in entrepreneurship and is currently pursuing his MBA. Josh worked for then Congressperson and now Secretary of the Interior, Deb Haaland as a Field Representative.
As a current proud small business owner, Josh owns his own consulting firm and is partnered with the Service-Disabled Veteran Consulting Group while raising four children with his wife, Shavonne.
Josh has also served on the Sandoval County Planning and Zoning Commission.
As a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Josh understands what it truly means to serve. Josh’s values are one in the same with military core values: integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all that he does, Joshua maintains a strong presence in the community and government relations. In the Military, he was designated as the soldier to call on in time-sensitive, mission-critical, “we need it done yesterday” type of situations. With his initiative-taking nature and no-fail attitude, Josh earned the privilege of being awarded the number one rated non-commissioned officer among thirty-two peers before his departure.
Josh believes in serving his community with honor and has been involved and active in his communities. He is a former board member and treasurer for Paws and Stirpes, Former outreach officer for The DPNM Veterans Caucus, a current member of NM African American chamber of commerce, and a subcommittee member for Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller’s Veterans Mental Health and Transition Collaborative and was a Wounded Warrior fellow for Congressional District NM-01. Josh is driven by his sense of community and family, describing his mother as his hero and his children the reason for running for office.
“After leaving the military, my mission is to serve Sandoval County. I am ready to work with everyone that is willing to collaborate with me to build a better City for us all and become the best city in New Mexico.” – Joshua A.D Jones
